Safety is a priority for us when manufacturing our necklaces, to enable us to offer you the highest safety for your child we only use synthetic plastic clasps with a screw thread which has been glued into the barrel of the clasp NOT sterling silver clasps.  Sterling silver clasps are designed for fashion and high end jewellery so that the clasps DO NOT release and so you don't lose your jewellery.  Plastic screw clasps are designed to release if any pressure is applied to the joint.  Cotton is also used for this reason and not silk.  Each necklace has been knotting before and after each bead, in the event that the necklace does break and it will break if excessive force is applied, then only one bead will come off and the remaining beads will stay intact.

Every amber teething necklace has been hand-crafted by Baltic amber specialists with generations of experience who carefully polish and softly round the Baltic amber beads. Unlike cheaper amber 'chips', amberbebe.com uses rounded polished beads, which lay comfortably against baby's skin. This allows maximum skin contact and gives added comfort to your child.

Active Ingredient

Natural pain relief provided by Amber works by placing the necklace on your body, this allows your skin to warm the amber beads, releasing healing oils which are then absorbed into the blood stream.  Only Baltic amber contains succinic acid, please beware of other sellers stating they sell "Baltic amber" yet the amber may be mined in China, Africa, Australia, India or Tibet this is Copal and does not contact the active ingredient - Succinic Acid.

The active ingredient is succinic acid which is fossilised resin produced by plants 40 – 50 million years ago. In nature the resin would have been used by the tree as a natural antibiotic against infection, viruses and physical attack.  The tree would use the resin like a plaster or wound dressing. Now the resin has been fossilised, its healing properties have been captured in the resin which are release once the amber has been warmed. Nobel-prize winner Robert Koch (1886) was the pioneer of modern bacteriology proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the body.

The Science

In the 1930's and 40's, European biochemists discovered that succinic acid is an amino acid created naturally in every cell of the body capable of aerobic respiration, participating in the citric acid, or Krebs cycle. This is how carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolized into energy.
